The Strategy

I write completely original resumes for my clients. My commitment to originality means that your document is not going to look like it’s been created by template software, nor will it have any of the tired, overused phrases typically found in mediocre resumes. The resume I write for you will be filled with accomplishment statements and keywords to get you noticed. As electronic scanning of resumes has become commonplace, and resumes are often “read” by ATS software instead of humans as a first screening, I use significant strategies to give you an advantage in the screening process. In addition to thoughtfully selecting and incorporating the best keywords, I also format knowing what design elements are ATS software friendly and which are not. This has become a significant issue in the resume-writing community, with some writers inadvertently overdoing the design elements, creating documents that are rejected by ATS software, and ironically hurting their clients’ chances.

Samples of my resumes have been published in eleven resume writing books. A list of those may be viewed on the about page of this site. Furthermore, during the 20+ years I have worked full-time in this profession, I have written resumes for virtually every type of occupation (view list of occupations). However, more importantly than the number of clients I work with and the volume of resumes I write, are the results my clients get. Fees (Your Investment)

There is a broad range of prices since I write resumes across all occupations and levels of responsibility (entry-level to senior executives). Prices for complete resume development start at $395 and rise incrementally. Cover letters are priced separately. I also write LinkedIn profiles for the majority of my clients. Fees for LinkedIn profile writing are custom quoted at the time other items are quoted.  

My fees for resume writing are reflective of my level of expertise, the significant credentials I have to do this work, and the personalized service I give my clients. I regularly evaluate my fee structure to ensure that I am market competitive with a subset of other resume writers who are similarly experienced and have a reputation for producing very high-quality work. 

Since each resume writing project is unique, prices are quoted, in advance, on an individual basis. The kind of position you seek and the amount of work experience you have (number of years, number of job titles, and number of employers) correlate with the complexity of the project. Those parameters guide me in the price quote.

I am happy to show prospective clients sample resumes. To make this as helpful as possible, I will show samples that are relevant to your situation/background. For this reason, I do not include a smattering of resume samples on my website. If you are a Director of Finance, it’s not going to help you to see a resume I wrote for a Marketing Manager.  I will show you a sample resume that is pertinent to your work history. This is part of a free, no-obligation consultation. 

Cover Letters

In most situations, it is appropriate to include a cover letter and it is often expected by employers even if a job posting does not specifically mention it. The cover letter is an additional opportunity to provide pertinent information, show your individuality, display effective communication skills, and distinguish yourself from the rest of the candidate pool. It gives you the ability to get more personal with the reader and as such, is the closest you can get to building rapport without actually meeting in person.

Persuasive and sophisticated cover letters are every bit as challenging to write as resumes. The one I write for you will quickly command attention because it will not be filled with the ordinary, tired clichés that are typically used by inexperienced writers. Your letter will impress because of its uniqueness, clear message, and excellent choice of language. Cover letter pricing begins at $195. More complex letters, such as those needed by management-level candidates, executives, career changers, or others with unique circumstances, are slightly more. I built my practice in a professional building in Huntington, Long Island, and met clients in person there for 20 years. In 2020, the pandemic caused me to rethink in-person meetings, and I made the decision to work exclusively from my home office in Centerport. I now conduct appointments with clients through videoconferencing and phone calls with the same attentiveness, quality, and professionalism I am known for.
